We will be adding a run and attaching it to the exsisting one. Not that the chickens use it much, they usually just free range, but it is nice if we are not home.

lovely coop!

Please let us know how the chickens take to the nest boxes being higher. I can't really tell how tall the coop is, but I like the idea of them not being nearer the ground.

That is exactly the type of coop that I was thinking of for our chickens!! What are the dimensions of your coop and how many chickens/what kind do you have?
Also is the window plexiglass or regular?
Sorry about all the questions but now I have something to show my husband. I have tried to explain to him what I want, but it's like the I Love Lucy show with us!

I have a beautiful huge garden shed that I wanted to cut a hole in the side of and then build a coop inside the shed. Needless to say he told me "no" and then proceeded to lock up all his power equipment. LOL! Unfortunately for him he married a country girl who can run all the trucks, tractors and power equipment. Unfortunately for me, you may have noticed I did not put down woodworking skills.

I am curious to find out too. My new chicks are only a few weeks old and the nest boxes in my other coop are not that high. The ones in the new coop are 30inches off the floor. The reason we put them up is hopefully they won't get bored in the winter and peck and eat the eggs in the boxes. There is also a door that opens behind the boxes so the little kids can get the eggs without going in the coop.

I love the look of the coop! if you don't mind me asking, about how much did it cost to build it?

I really wish I had kept track, we reused some of the lumber and we also used scrap from hubby's work.

The dimensions are smaller than what I wanted (of course) but I couldn't complain for a 2nd coop. It measures 4Wx8Lx6T

It is glass. I bought two of the same from the house stuff junk yard. $2 each....all they needed was hinges and a little paint!
