Im pretty sure I can pick out the Roos from the Americauna chicks I hatched a few weeks back. 3 so far. All 3 are charging me. One is WAY more aggressive than the others. He came at me feet first when I just went out to replace their food. He keeps dodging and coming and running and leaping at me. Isn't this a little young for the aggression to start? my last roo didnt show his uglyness till about three months. I have a feeling this is going to get much worse. Any advice?

Are they running at you out of aggression or are they running at you because you are their long lost mother which they can't wait to see and get treats/food from? They are babies, real aggression will show up at about 12-16 weeks old. For now they are curious and playing.

He's not playing. I haven't seen a chick that young behave like that. Especially when I try to handle any of them. He really gets coocoo. My last roo started acting up around 3 to 4 months. This guy started early I guess.

One of my silkie chicks that is close to 4 weeks old is doing the same thing - I've nicknamed it 'Angry Bird' because it really is very angry and aggressive. If I come anywhere near the brooder, it sends out the alarm and works all the other chicks into a frenzy and then it stands there, tall and straight, with all the other chicks behind it. It will not settle down if I pick it up and squawks so loud!! The other chicks were pretty laid back when I got them, but now even the ones that were super sweet and falling asleep in my hand are running away from me. I feel like it's turning the others against me. They are even suspicious of treats!! I guess it is true what they say that each chicken is an individual, and so there will be kooky ones in the bunch. I can't have roosters where I live so I am sort of looking forward to giving that one away. . .

Wow! Mines working the others into a frenzy too! I'm the enemy. I have a pet sitter coming to my house that I had to warn!! I can't wait to see what he has to say!

I had a Jersey Giant cockerel that started charging me at about 3 1/2 weeks. He turned out to be very protective of the girls and very aggressive to people. I ended up calling him A$$hole. So it can start very early!
