Got 3 chicks from breeder two days ago. Guy claimed they are barred rocks but they don't look like barred rock chicks to me. He also said they are 4 weeks old, but they look closer to 2 weeks because they are quite small and only their wings have feathered out. He pulled them from a big brooder with 100s of chicks of all colors so I don't doubt they are something else. No matter what they turn out to be, I'll be quite happy as long as they're not roosters!

Chick #1 - This one has barely any wing feathers yet, but is the tallest. Almost completely dark grey, with only a little white on its butt. The red is from the heat lamp reflecting.

Chick #2 - This one has a couple barred wing feathers, but most are black, white stripes around the eyes, and a white throat and belly.

Chick #3 - This one is like chick #2 except the wing feathers have brown and black barring, almost brindle. And more pronounced white stripes by the eyes.

If anyone could help, I'd really appreciate it! Trying to figure out breed, age, and sex! (I know, its a tall order!) Thank you!

I sex my chicks by their tail length at 2 weeks. That last chick might be a cockerel. I find that the females grow in tails before the males, so the ones with tails are usually female and the ones with little to no tail are male (unless the recessive fast growing gene in my flock decides to show up and I missex them.
as for breed I cannot tell breeds at that age

They are to young to determine the gender, try posting new pictures when they are 5-6 weeks old. The first two look to be Black Australorps or Jersey Giants, gow you tell which breed is which is to look on the bottoms of their feet, pink or white means Black Australorp, while yellow means Jersey Giant. Your third chicks looks to be a mixed breed
