Last night I heard yelling from the barn in the geese room several times- they are locked tight so nothing can get in except try to crawl under or maybe like a snake. So tonight I left the light on a while and the 3 I think are males were circling the female(I think) around and around the room. Settled down but my question is, should I separate her with some wire in part of the room or will they hurt themselves attempting to get over it? Is this normal?

They probably will be fine. Whenever you have to many ganders there is a little fighting. Ours do it also. What would be ideal is if you could put just one gander with her.

I wouldn't leave her alone with 3 ganders. I say this from personal experience. Our goose Karessa was in with 2 ganders. Of course we weren't aware that there were 2 ganders. We thought we only had one in that pen. That was until one morning when we heard honking and near screams coming from one of the goose pens. One of the ones that we thought was a goose was actually a gander. The two ganders, instead of fighting with one another, went after the female together. Both were trying to mate with her at the same time.

In the 3 minutes it took my husband and I to get outside to the pens and into their specific pen, the two ganders had ripped all her feathers out of the back of her neck. She was bleeding and scared. We tried adding a second female into the pen without separating the two males, hoping that one would choose to be with the other female. Nope. The second day, they were both back on Karessa and she was injured again.

We had to bring her inside and clean her wounds. She was inside recuperating for 2 days before we could put her back outside. We had to separate all our ganders into three separate pens. Each gander has their own goose.

I would not put your goose away at night with 3 ganders. This was happening during the day where we could get to our goose in a few mere minutes. I would hate to see what would happen with 3 ganders and one goose in the middle of the night situation. You may go outside one morning to an injured or dead goose or gander.

Thanks for the information. I think I am giving one or two of the males to a friend if she really wants them.
I may give the other two away if someone is interested and has a great home for them.
