We have 2 year old ancona females. 3 months ago we hatched 6 duckling. 3 male and 3 female. One of the males was often kept far away from their little flock by the other 2 males. We decided to keep the ostracized one due to his coloring and separated the other 2 drakes from the rest. For the last 2 days the single drake has been relentlessly attacking one of the older females. He hasn’t seriously injured her but she’s pretty beat up and exhausted. See photo below. I’d understand his behavior if she was another drake. What could cause this behavior? There hasn’t been any mating activity among the younger group either. I‘d appreciate any advice. We are scheduled to re-home 2 of the drakes Thursday.

Im thinking I should keep one of the other drakes despite their common black markings and let the lavender one go? E1D820A9-0D0E-4F61-9389-19F30D24873E.jpeg

Hormones most likely. I think if I had the opportunity to choose and have seen how this one is behaving I believe he'd go instead of one of the other 2. You still have one more day to see out of the other 2 which one has the best temperament.
Bless her heart she shouldn't have to put up with that. duck sex is rough but this isn't to the sex part yet.

Thank you! Would you hold onto both the other males longer to determine personality? I know a 2 to 5 ratio wont work in the long run.
