So, I have 10 geese that free range together. Sometimes they split into 2 groups of 5, as that is how they grew up together. The past 2 days, what I would call the head gander, has been going off all alone and staying in the creek all day. Sleeping there and not walking around nor coming back to the house with the other geese. He was always the protective one, and always on the look out and now i'm worried and wondering why he is going off alone... i don't see any obvious signs of him being sick, but really am not sure as to what is going on. This morning AS soon as I left him out, he went straight to the creek. Any ideas, or have seen this before? A worried mama here!
Thanks!
I wanted to add it's almost like he seems depressed. He always comes to me for lettuce and he wasn't really even interested in it. They are molting right now and even his beak seems to be peeling. Our dog died and we got another dog, that is the only thing that changed. Can a goose get depressed from something else taking my attention. Hes my favorite and just hate to see him die or something.
Thanks!
