3 month old pekin died suddenly

Our 3 month old Pekin suddenly died today. I don’t understand why. She is always so friendly and affectionate. Loved being held. We did not live that recently she would lay a lot more, but she still walked around fine, ate good, drank good, loved swimming and hanging out with the other chickens and ducks. This morning I went out to let them out and her mom walked out of pen, but she stayed inside, which she never does. When I got home this evening I found her dead. All other chickens and ducks were fine. Can anyone help me understand? She was by far our favorite.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss What a lovely thing she was.

I wish I could give you answers, but sadly, there is no way to know why she died unless a necropsy/testing is performed. There are so many things that can go wrong. If you happen to have another one get sick and die, think about sending the body to your state lab for a diagnosis.
