3 out of 4 baby ducklings died

Your coworker sounds like she shouldn't be caring for living things. It'd be nice for someone to enlighten her to how terrible that level of negligence is.

Good luck to her toddler.
I believe accidents can happen to the best of us. People have dropped incubated eggs, forgotten to close pop doors, or slept in too long on a hot day, etc., and all of those things are tragic, but an accident. I myself killed a baby chick when I was a toddler and I don’t blame my parents in the slightest. We can’t live with an eyeball glued to our children as much as we would like to. I was more upset over her husbands negligence for the fourth duckling than anything else because he knew better. She had asked him to ensure the duckling had food, water, and the heat was turned off and he told her did that. He lied to her and didn’t check on the duckling at all. Many of us have had to depend on other people for help with our flocks only to be disappointed. We all have to work and have family obligations that lead us to depend on others for help. It happens. She’s a wonderful mom, grandmother, coworker dog mom, cat mom, and goat mom. She accepted now isn’t a good time to try ducks again.
