Ok so I posted before about my chicks pecking at my duckling. I have 3 questions...

1 will the other ducks peck at the red if I just use neosporin and not bandage it?

2 how long til her feathers come back?

3 how old do the ducks need to be before they do not need a brooder lamp?

Thanks!

1. Separate the duck from the chicks!

2. Apply neosporin (if necessary)

3. The feathers may or not come back depending on age.

4. Ducklings will need a brooder light until about 3 - 4 weeks old. BUT.........make sure they are not exposed to inclement weather and get soaking wet! They WILL catch a cold and die.

She is separated from the chicks. I was wondering if the other ducks(I have 3) will mess with it, so will a bandage become necessary? She is approx 5 or 6 weeks. I hope they come back! Its above her tail, lower back ish.

Watch them. They "may"not attack" the red spot, BUT.........he/she is definatley at the
bottom of the pecking order, so I would quaranitine within sight of the others until the bleeding (red) goes away.

Could you use blukote on her.... worked for my chicks that were pecking they didn't like the new color and feathers regrew within a week or so. It also worked for a turkey poult I got free from TSC because it had been picked at its vent from the others..... compleely healed and refeatherd again in just over a week. Might be worth a shot!
