A week ago, 6/12, i received 17 “rainbow assorted female” chicks by mail from Cackle hatchery. They were all doing wonderful at first, until yesterday morning I noticed 2 of them were stumbling around, using their wings to help them walk, and spending as much time sitting as they could. After seeing them get walked all over and stuck under their flock mates, I separated them off into another brooder with a couple other calm chicks to make sure they weren’t being trampled. This morning I got some rooster booster poultry cell and administered that to them after thinking it might be a vitamin deficiency. One of them seems to be doing a bit better since then but still not 100%. Today ANOTHER one has started to act the same way. I have now separated her off into the 2nd brooder as well. They’ve been eating Purina start & grow as well as a little bit of plain scrambled egg for extra protein and nutrients. I’ve been occasionally giving them some Save-a-chick electrolytes along with their water. I’m in Arizona so even though it’s set to 75° in my house, it gets up to about 83° in the room I have them in due to the door being closed (I have cats). They also have heat plates that heat to around 93-95°. I’ve also noticed one of the lethargic chicks panting a few times today although she lays directly under the heat plate. When I notice her doing this Id usher her over to her water to hydrate and it seemed to help. I’m a first time chick mama and I’m stressing out so bad, I’m going to be a wreck if something happens to my little babies so I’m so thankful for any advice.

Welcome To BYC

Can you post photos of the brooder setups and the chicks, their poop?
How large are each brooder?

Work on hydration. Turn off the brooder plates and see if that helps. I wonder if they are overheating.
