New chicken owners, we need help! We purchased 3 pullets from our local farm supply. They all looked the same, but now one has some “silky” qualities, furry legs- so cute! In the last few days she’s developed a huge bulbous chest area. It’s very soft and feels like liquid inside.
eating, drinking, poop looks same as others. She’s in unmediated chick feed and vitamins in her water. Due to her size she moves around slower(unbalanced maybe).
here are pictures- we don’t know what to do. I’m hoping that I’m just clueless and that she’s fine!
Thank you in advance.

Is it like that al the time? Chickens store food in their crops, and it should empty completely, contents to the stomach overnight. It sounds like she has a slow crop / impacted crop. Are you feeding them grit? That would be something to get for them immediately - in the meantime check her crop again first thing in the morning before eating or drinking anything - crop should be flat and empty.

Yes, it’s staying large, not flattening at all. She has been on chick starter/crumbles only. I can pick up some grit to try out. Thanks!

Great idea. That was my initial thought - just storing the food.
Grit should help a lot.
