Hello,
My dad and I recently decided to get chickens, but for some reason they are all getting sick and dying. Out of the 12 we have 5 left, but just yesterday another got sick. He (or she) was the biggest most active of the 5. Running around eating bugs and bullying the rest. Yesterday morning when I went to check on them I found him lying on his side. He cant stand, sit, lift his head. He always tries to move backwards and flaps his wings. I stayed up most the night making sure he got water, but food is hard to get in him. He wouldn't eat or drink unless I force him to. We have him separated in the house. I have gave him some poly vit sol without iron.
What is wrong with our chicks? 4 of the Delawares have died and 3 of the Road Island reds. The only ones that aren't affected are the Marans.
Is there anything I can feed him that is easier then the starter feed? Anything else I can do?
My heart breaks more and more each time one dies and I am determined for this one to make it. Usually they die during the night, but he is still with us.
Thanks!
