Hi!
I started my backyard chicken journey in May of this year, with 8 baby chicks from Coastal. One ended up being a rooster but he is pretty tame for a rooster even with my border collie following them around the yard and herding them constantly. I got 3 different breeds and they are all thriving, all brown/cream egg layers.
I wanted some egg color variety so I got 2 olive eggers and 2 Easter eggers off of Meyer Hatchery. One of the olive eggers passed away during transit, and the other one of the same breed started growing additional claws (one on top of each outer toe). I tried to google this with no luck of anything similar. I am hoping this is just a harmless deformity but I am worried it will continue to grow into her toe and cause more harm as she gets older. I attached a picture to show the additional claw.
I am hoping someone can share any knowledge on this, if it is normal, if I should be concerned or if anyone else has seen this before.
