3 Week Old Female Pekin Ducklings

Hello,

I have 3 3-week old female Pekin Ducklings. They are now starting to turn from yellow to white. I sit with them and talk to them, but they are very timid and always run away. I currently have 2 7-month-old Pekin ducks (males) and this is why I got some females since the males are getting aggressive with each other.

But my question is, are female more skittish and timider compared to males. The males were at first but by the 2nd week they came up to me. Or is it because there are 3 of them and they stick with each other?

Yes and yes. Females are more skittish and whenever I have more ducklings they seem more skittish. Know too that they go through a scaredy cat phase. Just keep being gently and offering treats.

Oh okay, thank you for that. So I gave them crushed up mealworms but put on the floor. I will try feeding them out of my hand and I see how that goes.

I have had some come around and I worry I will step on them each night as they come to eat treats out of my hand. Others still wait for me to put the treats on the ground for them.
