I have 17 chicks in one very large brooder. Ages range from 2-3 weeks. All from hatcheries. All vaccinated for Mareks and almost all except for the white leghorns are vaccinated for Coccidiosis. The hatchery they 2 white leghorns came from did not offer a vaccine for Coccidiosis but seeing as they are house with chicks that have both vaccines....Is it still possible for them to have it?

I just happened to be watching my chicks after changing their water and my pullet Leghorn pooped and it was clear but still solid if that makes sense with some blood. I am concerned. Should I remove her and the other leghorn from the brooder? What could it be? They all eat the same and diink water with Quick Chick electrolyte mix.

Here is a link that I found on this site and it has helped me a lot. http://www.chat.allotment.org.uk/index.php?topic=17568.0
It has photos of the range of what "normal" poop should look like. You probably aren't feeding medicated feed since your others are vaccinated. The ones that aren't vaccinated probably should be on medicated feed. I am sure that someone with more experience will comment here, but take a look at the pictures in the link and make sure that it was blood that you saw. There are also antibiotics available for chicks with coccidiosis.

Thank you so much for this. After looking at the photo's ir appears my chick has shed intestinal lining and not blood. What a relief.
