3 week old Salmon Faverolles

From my research these little chicks look like a pair to me but at three weeks old may still too soon. What do ya’all think? #2 is feathering in much slower.

Too young to tell.

Having bred Salmon Faverolles, I believe they are both pullets. Females should be lighter, but in recent years, especially with hatchery stock, you see females that are marked incorrectly. Young cockerels would be much darker than that.

Thank you for information. I got the birds from a local breeder that claimed they were not hatchery stock. They are chatty, skittish chicks. Is that your experience?

Mine were just fat. Besides that they were little sweet hearts.

They may have gotten them from a breeder that got them from hatchery stock. Did you get to see the parents?

My first batch I raised with Sicilian Buttercups and the Faverolles were the calmer of the two by far. I don't remember mine being overly chatty, but I hear that from a lot of people on here. I do remember the hens making amazing mothers, the goofy way they "run", and that one of my males absolutely killed a Cooper's or Sharp-shinned Hawk when it got into the run after a broody and her chicks. He was flogging it when I arrived on the scene.
