Hi, peeps.
Sudden emergency today with my tiny flock of rescues. We've only had them a few days, but they're already special to us.
Out of six, five have been found. It looks like the dog that attacked ripped open their short term home, Emergency Coop, and started "playing" with the "toys" until they stopped moving.
Three are shaken but relatively unharmed.
One is missing. Since it's now after ten pm, we are considering that one as gone for good. We have predators on the land so I would be surprised to find it.
Of the two injured, we have one missing a large amount of skin down one side - essentially everything hidden by one wing. At first we thought it was uninjured, just in shock, but then I lifted the wings to see if either was broken.
The other has a small piece of missing skin just above the tail, and what looks to be a broken wing.
Both went straight into a blanket on my chest as soon as they were cleaned.
I know I need to put the wing in a wrap, but we have no vetwrap or anything like it on hand. What can I use? Would cutting a clean sock into a little bird sweater work?
Now that it's been a couple hours, should I offer them crumbles? They keep waking periodically to make angry noises, and I know it was time for them to get another scatter before their coop was brought inside for the evening, when we've been giving them their final large dose of food.
