Who else can't wait until their chickens lay their first eggs!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Mine will turn 16 weeks old on August 9th, 2018 (a Friday). I'm so "egg"cited! LOL! I feel like either my Barred Rocks will lay first or my Rhode Island Reds or even maybe my White Leghorns! Hopefully I'll get an egg the week they turn 16! Cross my fingers!:thumbsup:celebrate:celebrate:celebrate:celebrate:fl:fl:fl:fl:fl:wee:wee:yesss::yesss:

Fingers crossed, but could be a few weeks longer....My 2018 pullets just started laying last month at 20 weeks.....don't worry if takes a bit longer.
As long as they start laying before the days get too short, you'll get eggs this year. One year I got my chicks in late May, and they didn't lay until spring!

I’m impatiently awaiting some first eggs, too!! I have a dark Brahma that’s 19 weeks, but she’s not very red in the face yet so I think I have a while to wait with her. I also have a sapphire gem who just turned 18 weeks and has been squatting, so she should be laying asap, can’t wait for that one! My other two chicks are slightly younger, an ameraucana and a black copper Marans, they’re about 16 weeks. First eggs are so exciting! :ya

Last year I got an EE in early May, and I thought she was never going to lay. She waited until January to start!

I have a Rhode Island Red that's comb is starting to get bright red at 13 weeks. I'm thinking she might lay young. Your right! Waiting for the first eggs are super exciting!:) And I've heard that's Marans lay VERY dark eggs.:goodpost:
