Having a window opening on the northern side would be risky in the colder months, if you live above the Equator. My coops will have 3 windows also.
East - morning sunlight
West - evening sunlight, good, sometimes strong breezes, storm winds = excellent cross ventilation
South - colder months warmth shining thru window, southern storm winds, good southern breezes warms the coops in colder months
Northern side will be solid wall because of Canadian coldness blows strong, coming North/Northwest
For those times when Western winter winds, or, Western/Southern Spring/Summer storm winds are blowing hard, my West and South windows will be closed. My Eastern window will stay open, unless a rare Eastern Hurricane wind blows!
