Help!! I have a bantam of unknown breed, although she is silver in color, on June 13, she started sitting in the nest box and is still sitting in the nest box. I take her out twice a day for food and water and she runs around, eats, drinks, and takes a dust bath, behaving normally. I’m seeing no outward signs of illness since she allows me to hold her and I give her a full inspection.Occasionally, I find an egg underneath her, but she doesn’t lay eggs as far as I know. I believe she’s sitting on the eggs of one of the other chickens in her small flock. She is the smallest of the other six chickens and is often picked on. She does not come out of the coop unless I bring her out but then she behaves normally. I take the eggs out every day and that’s all I’ve really done to try to curb her broodiness it’s so hot in upstate New York right now that I’m afraid that I’m not doing enough to keep her healthy or to stop her broodiness. I’ll take all suggestions, please! Thank you, Wendy
