I have 2 easter egger chicks from our local small feed store (from the Belt Hatchery in CA), told they all had the same hatch date.
The lighter gray (1) started out much smaller, and was a good week behind in feathering out but has mostly caught up in size and almost caught up in feathering. Because of the initial size/feathering difference I started worrying the darker gray (2) was a cockerel, but then was having a little more hope for 2 pullets as they got closer. Then #2's comb started looking pink already, probably before 3w, and has got me worried again - is there any chance still that #2 is a pullet?? Is that just one of the variations of beak/comb coloring and not an indication of sex at this age? So far, foot and leg size look about the same. I do remember last year's EE cockerel had massive feet and thick legs in comparison to the other chicks we had (of different breeds), but I don't remember when it became glaringly obvious.
I know, it's early so I don't expect definitive - just wondering if there's still some hope that Cuddle Bug will get to keep her hatchmate beyond just initial integration with the hens.
