Hi y'all
we brought our day olds home the last week of may. they have lived in a tote on the kitchen table with a heat lamp. I had to get a bigger tote to put them in about a week ago and they have seemed to outgrow that one as well. I can't put them on the floor in anything larger because we have a large dog that although he is not vicious he would love to play with them lol. Our coop will be completed today and I am wondering if they are safe to go in to the coop full time??
I am in southern ontario so we have had some crazy warm days but we are now in a rainy cool spell. day time temps are 70+ most of the time nights are around 55 i believe. I have stopped putting on the heat lamp as it is so bloody hot here plus I want them to get use to day and night.
I want to put them out soon but as a first time chicken mama i am nervous!!!
a lot of the posts i read said 6 weeks but it seemed like those were people who purchased their chicks earlier in the year.
they are fully feathered other then some down still on their neck.
what do you think?
tks!!
