I think I know what genders they are but I want to double check. I know what breed most are except 7, which was a grocery store egg I threw under a hen as an experiment. I'm also curious about her color. I thought she was lavender but she seems to have a few blue feathers. Can lavender leave a few feathers undiluted or is she splash?
Chicks 1-5 are 4 weeks old
Chicks 6 and 7 are 5-6 weeks old

Still wondering what breeds chick 7 may have originated from. She's splash, has a small crest, green legs, and she appears to be standard sized, considering she's already almost the size of my adult bantam hens at 10 weeks old.

I'm also questioning if 6 is a pullet. Her comb has gotten suspiciously red for a 10 week old. Does the feather pattern play a part in determining gender at this age yet? Because while the wings are still penciled, everywhere else the penciling is looking a lot less neat. I really hoped this one would be a pullet.

Green legs + crest makes me think she’s some sort of Easter Egger mix. Crest in those usually means some sort of Crested Cream Legbar heritage to get the blue egg gene. Color might be splash. What color egg did she hatch from?

She herself hatched from a brown egg, but some other eggs from her parent flock were dark brown and blue too, so I'm guessing it was some kind of a mixed breed colored egg layer flock she came from.
I suspected she may have some Legbar in her, based on the little crest.

Highly unlikely, but since since you said she's from a grocery store egg and that the flock had dark brown/blue eggs... did she hatch from one of the Happy Egg Heritage Breed eggs?

I ask only because it's a common brown/blue grocery store mix and because I've been trying to figure out what on earth their "Hölzl Blue and Hölzl Brown" supposedly heritage breed could be.

Ah well, I'm not American, so no. She came from a small local store. We asked where the eggs came from and they said a local farmer. These weren't your typical production grocery store eggs, that's why I wonder what breeds this person may have had in their flock.

How fun! Large grocery store chains are the norm around here; I suppose the equivalent would be getting eggs from the farmer's market. How many eggs did you try to hatch? I suppose if you had the space/desire you could hatch several more and get a better sense of what genetics could be at play.

Back to color: I suppose she could be both lavender AND splash, but I'm not familiar enough with lavender to make a call.

I put three under a broody hen. I didn't think any would hatch. Out of the three, two developed but only this one hatched. I did go back to the store to get more a little while later, but they said the farmer had quit raising chickens by the time I went back. I'm not sure if that meant chicken keeping in general or just that he stopped keeping his egg layer flock.

The blue spots she has (although hard to see in the pictures) look too dark to be diluted by lavender. I have several lavender birds in my flock, so I'm pretty confident she isn't lavender. When she was younger, she didn't have the blue feathers yet, which is why I thought she might’ve been lavender.
