I have a roo that first started sneezing / crackles in lungs and runny nose on Jan 28th. I treated him with TYLAN50 orally for 7 days. Looked & sounded OK so I put him back with his girls. 7 days later he is exhibiting same symptoms. Isolated again, Put him back on TYLAN50 orally and also gave via injection, Oxytetracycline for 4 days. Still on TYLAN50 till Friday.
Here is my question: he is and has been acting like a normal chicken since this first began Jan28th, frisky, eating like a horse, running around/crowing/ wanting his girls. What is going on with him??? Can chickens have allergies?? I am at a loss as to what to do with him?? Any one out there have any words of wisdom??
NONE of my 5 hens show any of these symptoms, all have been together since Dec of 2010, when I added the last of the hens.
HELP?!?!

All I can tell you is when one of my chickens is unwell, I bring theminside, give them electrolites with vitamins and good food and a warm cozy place to hang out and lots of tlc in general. They get better, they go back out. And sometimes they don't get better and die. This always makes me sad, but I do what I can.

Hope some can give you better advice. Good luck.

This sounds exactly like the symptoms my hen had when she got pneumonia. It's actually fairly easy to treat, but it has a tendency to come back once or twice. Give your roo .5 mL of Baytril for two weeks and he'll most likely be fine.
