Hi everyone!
I see there are other newbies from my area, as well as other newbies from all over the place. I'll have to go looking for my fellow NC chicken owners here.
Since I try to be a good forum member, I have completed the required and suggested reading and am now introducing myself. I'll go ahead and complete the suggested questions.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes, still wet behind the ears. Just got 4 started Buckeye pullets yesterday afternoon and am giddy with excitement!
Will be getting 2 Barred Rocks and 2 Ameraucanas either Sunday or Monday.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Just the four.
(3) What breeds do you have?
As above, Buckeyes currently, Barred Rocks and Ameraucanas on the way.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Google. It's how I find everything.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I'm a sometimes knitter/crocheter/seamstress/basketmaker, enjoy good food and reading, weekend visits from my grown DS and his DGF and their dog (don't tell her I called her a dog
), and keeping things simple.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I'm currently self-employed part-time, share headquarters with my wonderful DH, two large dogs, and a cat. I love farm life!
My plan is to be a reader of this vast wealth of information, with the possibility of a post or two as necessary. I'll try not to ask dumb newbie questions without searching first.
I'm looking forward to getting to know some folks here!
