4 Weeks old Rhode Island Reds

These were my peanuts. Supposed to be all males. However, a couple have way smaller combs. Could they be female? How big should the combs be by now? How can I be sure? Also, how do you post pics? That would help...

Hi Becky,

You might want to post this in breed/sexing section of the forums.

As for posting pictures. If you go to Uploads on the forum menu across the top of the page in blue, and click on that another window will open up which will have a place for you to chose the pictures you want to upload. Once you upload the pictures. You will be able to select from your uploads the "codes" for each picture which you then can copy and paste into your post. I'm sure there is a better, simpler explanation for how to post pictures and hopefully someone else will chime in.

As to your original question, at 4 weeks old the males will be showing a slightly larger, darker comb than the females. Many breeds are difficult to sex, but I've found those breeds with single, larger combs, the males combs are usually more prominent by 4 weeks of age.
