Were still working on transitioning our two ducks to outside, trying to train and keep them quiet when we leave the yard as to it disturb our neighbors. Anyways, they have a 40 gallon stock pond, partially buried, with a ramp up to it. They're still getting used to it, and take some coaxing to get in but once they are they love it! Any tips for cleaning it? We plan on shoveling out the water with Home Depot buckets and shopvaccing the rest out, but this doesn't seem very efficient. There's no filter or moving water, I would like to add an aerator that we should have lying around the house somewhere to make bubbles and keep the water moving but I'm afraid to scare my skittish ducks...

I've attached some pictures, and apologize ahead of time for the murky water and ghetto duck house.

We're working on growing more grass and are going to add rocks to the ramp to deter erosion.

Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thank you.

I suggest a sump pump and garden hose. It is so much easier than using buckets. You'll still need the shop vac to get the rest out. Just make sure you get a pump that doesn't use oil in the inner workings. If it every gets a crack it can leak into the water and it is toxic to the ducks.

I actually love the cinder blocks for the duck house.. A lot of people put a drain in the bottom of their ponds with attached hoses to direct the water to their gardens ...

We decided to just stick with bucketing it out, we actually get it done pretty fast! And then once we get to the murky stuff at the bottom we just fill it up and dump again until it's clean water.
