A friend gave us all these leftover building materials, and I couldn't think of any better use for them than to build a coop. It's just under 4' square. This is the result of one day's work. Tomorrow will be ramp, perch, nesting box, and oh boy, installation! Sheesh. Hope the chicks like it
I have had chickens for a year now. AND in that one year... I went from a dog house coop conversion, to a 4x8, added a 7x8 run, for winter enclosure, then built a 4x5 coop for chicks I got in January, and then built a tractor for my silkies that is 3x4 in the coop area itself, and then I converted the run into a summer coop, added sides up at the top 2 feet to provide wind break around the 3 roosts that are up there, and a door, and going to probably completely enclose that this winter with solid walls on the bottom 4 feet, that I can take back off for next summer... And I only wanted 10 chickens... I have 47... or something like that... SO, yup... 4 coops in a year seems about right!
We finished and installed our coop today. I'd get up and take pictures - but that would involve getting up. I'm pretty stoked though, we didn't have to buy a single thing. If only every thing in life went that well
