Her name is Barbra Ann. She likes to go to the big girls coop to sleep, so I put her back into the younger girls coop (doghouse). This morning my dad says she's limping. I go down there, and sure enough she is. It's her right foot, and she can't seem to get her toes straight. She is very tame, so I held her for a while and checked all of her foot. She is a very clumsy chicken, and I got her about a week ago. She is in with my 3 month old's, because she was being pecked on a lot by the year old's and she seemed calmer with the younger ones. Visually, her foot looks fine, but I know something inside her foot might be wrong. If anyone can help, please do. I would post pics, but my camera won't download. Thanks for any help in advance.

P.S. Yesterday morning, I found her stuck on her side next to her roosting pole. I assume that she scooted over and fell the whole 3 or 4 inches. And she had a light in there. She was fine yesterday. That is how clumsy she is. (Last night was the first night I turned off the light, so maybe she couldn't see what she was doing and hurt herself. I don't know.)

I wonder if she is blind or partl blindy. It does sound like she injured herself. Maybe if you put her by herself where she has to rest the leg for a while, it will give her a chance to recover.

Here is a good writeup on many of the things that can go wrong and how to treat them

I didn't think about her being partly blind, I'll check. The thing is, I think her being by herself would do more harm than good, she might be too stressed already. And thank you for the link.

I went camping for a couple days, and had my neighbor look after my chickens. Barbra Ann seems to be worse. My neighbor said she would call her "Raptor healing" (I think that is what she said, probably not) friend. But now I am thinking that something is wrong in her thigh, instead of her foot. Right now, Barbra Ann has a little cat crate in the pen so she can have some shelter. If only I could get my camera to work.

Barbra is getting worse. I put her in a brooder in my laundry room, so that I can keep a closer eye on her. She is eating and drinking a little at a time. I just really hope I don't lose her, she is so sweet and beautiful. If anyone can help, please do.
Edit: She is also shaking, even with a 100 watt bulb in there.

Recently I found these tiny little clearish bugs climbing on me when I would hold Barbra. Then I realized that the little whitish dots at the base of her muffs, are probably eggs of some sort. So I looked up mites, but these didn't look like mites. So I looked up lice, and these look very similar to each other. I still think her leg is hurt, but the lice are making her more miserable. So how do I dust bathe an injured chicken. without hurting her?
A couple of days ago, we made a sling type thing so she can take the weight of her legs, because she usually had one leg straight out in front of her, and the other leg straight out behind her.
Anyone have any ideas to help her?

Barbra Ann kept going downhill. She had stopped eating, and my sister found a large, hard, lump on her upper chest. She (we) think(s) that it may have been a tumor. She was just miserable, she was not doing what chickens should be doing, and she had no quality of life. We couldn't see her starve to death, so we did the merciful thing. She stopped suffering on June 19, 2013 at about 7:30 pm. Good bye my sweet, beautiful girl.
