I have a 5 1/2 week old isa brown cross chick who is mounting his frizzle mum in a way that definitely looks like he is mating with her. Has anyone else experienced this as I certainly haven’t. Is it a sure sign this chick is a male. The lone photo was taken a couple of weeks ago however the other photo is only a few days ago

Is it just trying to jump on mama's back? My chicks did that this summer until they were literally weaned, she would walk away but they tried.

Still kinda young to sex but would lean towards pullets with this one. A couple more weeks and new pics would be helpful

I have lots of babies jumping on their mums back atm which is quite normal but this one hangs on to mums neck and really goes for it. Mum shakes him off like she’s just had a rooster on her back.
