I have had chickens on and off for yrs... heck been around them and butchering since farm in '60's first I can remember....
this is first time with this few chickens and no roosters. in march I got my chickens couple silver laced dot's, a barred rock, black australop, and a either red sex link or Rhode island red cant remember. and haven't looked up difference.
only the red is laying...one egg every single day for a month now. but other are not laying. cant figure it out.... live in ND

listed march buy, and that's old enough and I just never been waiting this long..and I walk the fenced area daily and my Shiba smells out eggs. even when we go in he knows if theres a egg in the box.

I have one from March who isn't laying yet. Maybe they just need more time? Or maybe a daylight or temp issue? Wish I had an answer for you. That must be so frustrating.

The flock here in TX was not laying at all. The young pullets had not come in to lay either. We separated the flock to feed more high protein to the pullets, and a bit more protein for the biddies to get them through the molt. We put the pullets into a sunny chicken tractor for two weeks until they started laying . The biddies still do not lay well, but they may still be in molt.

Another reason to separate our flock is to protect the pullets from daylight predators and also the brazen twilight raids carried out. It's an all-day buffet here. The books and the fine people on this board tell me that chickens need food, space, water and sunlight to make eggs. Check your flock's conditions and control what you can, and hopefully the eggs will increase .

chickens are not molting and perfect health ill take some pics tomorrow. jeff still one gg every day. 29 weeks old.

finally!! a nice small tan extra egg with the brown medium
