I bought silkie eggs from a well known silkie breeder, hatched them & just discovered the only one that didnt have a deformity does have one.
5 out of 5 of the silkies have from moderate to severe deformed twisted skulls or beaks. I certainly cant breed the remaining 2, the others were put down becuase they were so severe & were no longer able to eat or drink.
I have been in contact with the breeder since the 1st problem.. but i see shes still going along selling eggs & birds..unbelievable. I believe its caused from too much inbreeding after seeing her setup- you dont just keep putting the babies in with the parents over and over ..what a shame
