My daughter and I have 5 roos and love them all very much. As long as they get along can we keep them together?

My neighbor has a 4 roosters and one hen. I feel bad for them really. One rooster had his entire tail missing and the hens back was bald. 3 out of 4 of their roosters get along. They can hurt each other if they get in a scwabble. If you do keep them make sure to trim their talons so they do less damage.

How many hens do you have?
5 roosters, especially if younger, and hormonal, could be brutal on a small flock. You should have quite a few hens to dissipate the energy of 5 roosters. (Probably about 50).

How much room do they have to roam?
5 roosters will need some space, unless they are very, very mellow fellows, more than the minimal 10 sq feet for run.

What kind of breed?
Some rooster breeds interact MUCH better than others. 5 Favorelles will be much different than 5 Game.

How old are they?
As they mature, the dynamics may change dramatically, for the worse.

Do you have them in a rooster pad?
You will need to watch them to make sure nobody is getting overly hazed or bullied, especially as hormonal dynamics change.

How savvy are you in keeping chickens?
If these are "pets," are you willing to admit it if they become overly aggressive, as roosters can be want to do, especially to others, especially with children around? Are you willing to interact to prevent this? Are you willing to re-home or cull to protect others? A rooster can damage a child for life.

Those would be the questions I would ask. There isn't a set answer for anyone.

My thoughts.

Same here, my neighbor has 14 roosters now and 1 hen (It used to be 17 roosters to three hens and two died) The hen is not doing very well anymore and I can’t do anything.

You should have 1 rooster for every 10 hens. Or you can keep them with no hens and they should be fine. Just make sure they don’t fight.

They're silky bantams.

Ahhh....Silkies can be the best or worst of worlds.

Often they are pretty mellow fellows, and small enough to not need as much room as a large breed, that you may be able to keep 5 roosters....but I still wouldn't have 5 roosters with a small bunch of hens. Though usually more mellow, Silkie roos are still roos.

But if you can re-home some, it might be wise. And if you can get a few Silkie hens, it might be fun to breed them.

The roosters will be happier having an actual flock rather than all the testosterone butting...unless they are very, very, very mellow fellows.

How old are they?
