I have 2 australorp chicks, five and half weeks old, one the larger one is a pullet she had been the more dominate of the two but not mean, the other is a roo a bit smaller but has decided he want to be the head of them. ( I am fairly sure of the sex buy they way they look)
He has started this morn to go after her to make her back down, after fighting she is backing down and trying to get away from him but he keeps after her nonstop. I let them go for a long time thinking they will settle it, then when she trying to hide under a pallet to get away and he's still there after her, I stepped in and took him to the brooder cage and locked him in, given her a break.
Now what?
They are in a large fence area with mom and 2 other hens.
at one time all three hens was in a circle just watching chicks fight in the middle, it was like a bad parenting video...
I looked over both chicks, blood bruising, maybe some seeping, no major cuts. I know they need to work it out, but when do I step in and what do I do??? Thanks for any help.
