I have a five week old barred rock who I am pretty sure is a pullet however lately has been looking a little more like a cockerel. What does everyone think?

Hi, welcome to the forum from Louisiana. Glad you joined.

At five weeks that comb is fairly big and wattles are showing up. They are pink instead of yellow. The legs look a little heavy, not a lot but a little. The posture is upright. Those say boy to me, especially the wattles showing up this young.

I agree the feathering look too dark for a boy, a pure barred rock boy should look more silver due to the two barring genes. Where did you get this chick? How sure are you that it is a pure barred rock? If it is some type of mix that would explain the darker color?

I'm about 90% to 95% sure it is a boy. The dark feathering is the only question to me.
