Hello

I have a 5 week old duckling who continues to have issues with one leg. When she was 2 days old we noticed that her feet were curled. We immediately started giving her vitamin b and niacin supplements in her food and water and splinted her feet flat. As she grew she seemed to get better and better. If I hold her she resists pressure with the leg she drags it behind her when she walks (hobbles). She’s perfectly healthy otherwise but I definitely worry about when she’s full grown and can’t support the weight of her body on 1 leg.
Is there anything else I can do? She’s a Pekin of course so she’s going to get heavy.
Also - she loves to swim and I feel like it definitely helps her leg but then she can’t get out of the pool alone. Her sister (we only have the two) is the ring leader and protects her but she’s also way ahead in growth too. The attached photo is the latest one I have. This was about a week ago but they are bigger now. Thoughts?! Thanks!

Have you given your ducklings any form of niacin since they were youngsters? Also they need a way in and out of the pool a wide ramp or steps something so they can safely get out without having to jump from the side.

here is info on niacin deficiency https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/niacin-deficiency-in-waterfowl.1367557/
Just an idea on how to give them a way in an out.
Hi! Yes I’ve been giving them niacin as of 3 days old. Thank you for the photo of the pool setup! Sorry it took me so long to respond, the chickens attacked the duck with good legs and I have been rehabbing her for 2 days! Never ends haha.
