Long time no post!

I got 2 Salmon Favorelle's chicks a few weeks ago. I was told they take months to fully feather out. Should I wait those months to put them out with the rest of my hens? I know they are not ready now just trying to prepare. I am going out of town the week of new years and need to prepare for them to be outside or some one will have to come in and take care of them. I live in Middle TN and it is getting in the 30's some nights. Please give me some advice.

Salmon Faverolles, are such wonderful birds, and yours are so cute!

I tend to worry about anything and everything that could (and sometimes, could not, really!!) happen to chicks. So, if they were my babies, I would try to find someone to come in and take care of them.

If they could successfully integrate with the adult hens, they could roost with them and share the warmth. Of course, I would also worry that the hens would pick on them.

Someone who is less of a worrywart will probably give you better advice. But, I couldn't resist sneaking a peek at baby SF's :)

Thank you so much for the reply! I am a worry wart as well! I have just had 2 chicken death, that is the reason I got these babies, and I don't want to deal with that again so soon! I think I might have someone stay with them.
