they're 15 weeks old, this is the younger one, the older one has a more developed comb
but i've noticed they don't look like other peoples hens, they're quiet thin
im feeding them grower mix at the moment
Birds are not actually full grown when they start laying it will take more time for them to fill out and become full grown adults. My birds free range all the time so never really fill out as heavy and birds that are in a run all the time. Cause they get alot more exercise.
Our chickens free range from 5am until they roost . They are about 13wks old and appear thin too. I feed them pellets 2x a day, house scraps, and scratch at night. I too think all the free ranging keeps them fit!
Chickens do NOT overeat like other animals...when they are hungry they will eat and when they are not hungry then dont...chickens should have access to both water and food 24 hours a day...as long as you are doing this then I am sure they are fine.
