Hi, all.

My Brahma, Betty White, rarely laid eggs throughout her life…until now. She is the ripe age of five.
Her last original (we have younger birds, too) flock sister passed away on May 30th and it is almost like Betty feels she can lay now? She has always been -different- from the other birds. The lights are on but no one is home type of girl. Do you think she has the anatomical capacity to not lay for all that time or is she just a late bloomer?

Maybe you should change her name to Rose Nylund?

I have a BO that laid from 5 months to 15 months old, then decided it was beneath her. Chickens are weird.

Love that name change suggestion. However, I raised her well as a chick and she knows no other name than Betty.
Hmm…okay. I am absolutely fascinated by this. Every person I have told of Betty has concluded that she is probably special needs/ on the chicken spectrum.
