My bday is in 3 days, the big 50...my mother in law bought me an incubator!!!! with a turner. First let me say, Ive only started the chicken thing 22wks ago, and am very new and dumb to this...SO S.O.S HELP...

The gift was given to me early...because they also ordered me EGGS TO HATCH!!!! I have BUFF ORPINGTONS, CUCKOO MARANS, RIR, AND PROD. REDS!!! Omg!!!I have never done this before. Today we set up the bator...and we are warming it up...HELP...I need super feed back on how toos...tricks, ideas...etc...

pointed side of egg down, or up...actual turn them if I have a turner?...if baby chicks need to stay in it once there hatched, will the heat kill them...etc...

Im so excited!!! whats funny is honey is the one who wanted chickens, I said sigh ok, there dirty...well I got hooked the 2nd week into our 5 day old babies we had. Now Im looking for more chickens, reading about building more coops, and learning it myself. Honey called Ma and said NO MORE CHICKENS, IM DONE..I had to build a mini coop for the new bantams temp. until I have time to make a full reg. coop for them. And then what does Ma do...BUY ME A BATOR AND EGGS!!!!

Can't really help with your questions as I'm so new to incubating and hatching myself, but.... I just wanted to say Happy Birthday, and what a great birthday gift! Your MIL sounds like a gem....

Good luck with your eggs and incubator. There are some great, very sharing, knowledgeable people on BYC and I've benefited from the posts on these forums.

Hope you keep us updated and let us know how it goes.
