Im at my wits end.
One of my girls keeps going broody. Its the fifth time this year. Shes a dark cornish, usually an excellent layer and just over a year old.
I dont have (nor do I want) a roo so her efforts are wasted. Unfortunatly getting her a chick (or some firtile eggs) isnt an option as my coops at maximum capasity. I take the eggs out reguarly during the day - I have six girls in total, nicely and reguarly kick her out of the egg box, but each time Ive had to put her in a broody coop until shes out of it.
The broody coop works wonders, but a few weeks later shes broody again.
I dont realy mind the lack of eggs from her, but shes not a happy chook when she broody, its not pleasant for her.
Hubby says to cull her, but Id like to know if anyone of you has had success breaking a habitual broody.
Thanks in advance!
