Hey! So one of our chicks seems to have hurt her leg. Not sure when. She was laying with a lack of energy and one of the bigger chicks (all same age) stepped on her and she squawked pretty bad about it but could have been damaged before. She certainly seems pretty lethargic. I brought her in the house, double checked her vent, gave her some sugar water, put her back in with the others and she just wants to lay down and they want to walk on her. Anything I can do or is she doomed? My daughter is super upset but I've been trying to explain this is part of it and she might be ok.

You will need to keep feeding and watering her. A chicken sling might be of help and you can put food and water in front of the sling. If you could get a picture of her legs standing while you hold her up, it might show us if her legs look off. Are there any sore spots on her hocks? It could be a slipped tendon or any injury. Here are many designs for easy to make chicken slings:

I'll try to get pics. When she stands she puts some weight on it but most is on the other leg. But of what I see she's basically just sleeping. I'm not thinking she will be there in the morning :( she's also breathing a bit hard but she's not right under the lamp. I moved the lamp up since no one was under it, but we'll see how that goes. I have to go to work tomorrow so I don't think I can do a chicken sling. It says they need time out of it to stretch and sleep.

That's her laying outside the focus of the light. She lays on her left side, the other chicks are stepping on her. I feel like I should just call her and not let her suffer. Idk.

I got her up and got her to drink but she ran right back under the light and played down.

Have you given any chick vitamins that contain riboflavin (B2?) Human B complex tablets can be crushed and 1/4 tablet given orally each day in a bit of water might help if she makes it.

I haven't done anything special for any of them just clean water clean food heat lamp I don't really know what else to do outside of that the other ones seem to be thriving and she was doing really well too and then I don't exactly know what happened.

Ok I checked her in middle of the night and swore she would be dead by morning. I was feeling guilty for not culling her. (Laying on her side, leg/foot shaking)

But this morning she's still alive. She was again on her side but I could see her breathing so I picked her up and she was actually lively. He leg doesn't seem as bad. She drank water for me, BUT she won't eat and I brought her in the house a moment but I don't have a second light so I gave her some sugar water in addition to plain water and put her back in with the others.

She's really getting pushed around by the others. They're all bigger, and it seems in just a day the other Polish has even grown a bit to surpass her when they were both the same size/smallest in there before.

Is there anything super appetizing I can try to get her to eat or a way to force feed her? I can feel her little crop is empty :(

I'm shocked she is still alive. I wouldn't let my daughter check her before school because I was sure she would be a hard stiff body by now.

"Cutie" might have to change to "toughie" if she makes it.

Son got a stomach bug yesterday and now I have it, so home work today, but exhausted.

Any tips welcome!

You might try making a simple chicken sling, just to have her in front of food and water. It gets them upright and keeps them cleaner, and helps when you are not working with her. I sure hope she makes it. Read post 2 for more pictures of sljngs:

She seems to be standing and sleeping standing the last two times I checked on her, I can't do the sling I don't think since I'm not around after today, but I want to see if there is something I can do to get her to eat. I added a yolk to her sugar water, might try to get her on straight egg yolk for a bit. I'm encouraged to see her stronger seeming than yesterday
