6 Babies- Born Sept 21

5 and 1/2 weeks old. I do believe I have 5 BLRW and 1 Chocolate orpington. What are your thoughts?

1 and 2 splash BLRW? Boys or Girls?
3 and 4 Pigeon blue BLRW? Boys or Girls?
5 Chocolate Orpington? Boy or Girl?
6 Black laced BLRW Boy or Girl? This one has a much larger tail than any of the other hatch mates

It's too early for accuracy. The birds aren't even feathered out yet. If I had to guess now I'm afraid I would have to say that #6 looks like the only pullet of all the Wyandottes, judging by wattle development. I don't think #5 is pure Orpington. It looks like it has a triple or pea comb, and also it is frizzled, and I've never heard of a frizzled Orp. Too early to say if it is a boy or girl, but as of now it looks like a pullet.

I could make guesses, but at five weeks, the cockerels combs are getting big, and beginning to get pink. But at six weeks old, should be able to tell for sure. I know how much work goes into taking pictures!!

What do you mean by BLRW?
Sorry that I can not be of more assistance but at this point, I can only make guesses at genders... And I am not an expert with breeds. If you could post a few photos at 8wks, I'm sure that others here will be able to discern the genders pretty easily for you by then.

I'm pretty sure that all (except chick number 5) are wyandottes: 1 & 2 look like blue laced red Wyandottes, 3,4 & 6 look like golden laced wyandottes. 5 looks like either a chocolate Orpington or a black australorp (to me). However, it is hard to tell exactly if it is black (which would likely mean it is an australorp) or brown (which would likely mean it is a choc Orp) from photos.

This is just my opinion though... there are others that would know more than I.

BLRW= Blue Laced Red Wyandotte

The only one that stands out to me as a cockerel is #1 because of the red wattles, but it's too early for the rest. I think Wyandottes can be tricky if you only look at comb and wattle size. My Splash Laced Red Wyandotte had a large comb early so I was thinking she was a he for a long time. You'll have a much better idea when they are fully feathered and you can see the patterns of the lacing.
