Hello fellow chicken lovers! I have a 6 month old Cream Legbar that just started laying and has only laid soft eggs (approx 5 total in the last week). I heard that can be normal for a new layer, but is 1-2 weeks of consistently soft eggs still normal? She is acting totally fine otherwise, and has access to good layer feed and oyster shells. He fellow siblings (different breeds) are laying just fine. Thanks in advance for info and guidance!

I have had a couple of brown leghorns do that but not for this long, I have been told this is because they are lacking calcium, but since this is a young hen it could be a mix of lacking calcium and getting use to laying??

Thanks for your feedback. Maybe I’ll try hand feeding her oyster shells daily in case she isn’t helping herself to the dish.
