A muscovy duck nest in my neighborhood kept getting attacked by another creature, and 3 eggs were eaten and other eggs were thrown about and the nest eventually destroyed. I kept saving the eggs that were thrown out hoping that once the rest of the duck's eggs would hatch I could sneak the other ones back, but eventually whatever was attacking the nest finally finished the job and completely wrecked it and smashed whatever eggs were left except for 2 eggs that rolled into the lake, one of them prematurely cracked open and covered in ants and very loudly yelling for help, which I cleaned up and helped along since the yolk hadn't been absorbed yet. I had to keep the incubator extremely humid since the eggs were damaged. Anyways all of the ones that had live embryos survived, and now I've got 6 happy ducklings, but the momma duck is nowhere to be found, so maybe whatever dog or coyote attacked the nest took the duck too.
The one that was cracked is the largest duckling and loves to eat ants. The beak had been bitten by something, maybe a beetle or something, and was bleeding but it's totally healed now and you can't even see where the damage was. These are tough ducklings.

They are very cute but I don't have room to keep all of them as pets so I am putting them up for adoption. They have been getting spoiled rotten, fed them unmedicated duckling feed, earthworms, dried meal worms, kale, spinach, and live minnows, and they've been eating all the bugs off of my vegetable garden and they are all comfortable swimming and foraging for live food. Their names are Dora, Princess, Gentleman 1, Gentleman 2, Daffy, and Count Duckula ( a smaller duckling who is growing more slowly and hatched a week later than the other ones ). These are temporary names since I can't really tell what gender they are yet.
The only issue may be that they aren't afraid of cats, since my two rescue tabbies are very friendly with birds since they grew up with chickens. The ducklings are 2 weeks old and growing rapidly. I can post pictures if anyone is interested :)
Thanks for reading !
