I received 6 free day old chicks from a friend of a friend. When I asked the very sweet lady that giving them to me, what breeds they were, she said “oh honey I don’t know what breeds any of my chickens are!” Lol! I did not see any of her hens. I am sure they are all barnyard mixes. First question is gender, I believe I have 5 roosters. They are 8 weeks old. Also would love if anyone had any ideas of what breeds they may come from.
Thank you!

First of all, what happened to the first chick's beak? He's a boy, probably at least if not fully barred rock.
The second one is a boy, probably a buff Orpington but its a bit hard to tell from the pic.
The third one is an Easter Egger, boy.
The forth one looks like a buff orpington boy. (Do any of them have feathered legs?)
Fifth one could be a White Rock or Leghorn, boy.
Sixth one looks like an Easter Egger, and is your only girl.
Edited to add, pic 3 the EE, might be a pullet. Any idea how old the chicks are?

Thank you, I also felt the first five were all roosters, was really hoping the sixth one was a hen because I love her so much! Easter Egger makes sense, just hadn’t thought of it.
The first one’s beak is all there, just the tip is light colored and is hard to see in that pic.

The last one is definitely a pullet. I actually think the other brown EE might be a pullet too. I edited my last post and added that. That makes sense. I was trying to figure out if it was all there or not. That's a really cool marking!

How old are these chicks? That one with the light bill tip looks more like a pullet in this last pic.

They are all mixed breeds, and only one is a pullet. How long ago did you get these "free" chicks? I hope you have other hens to keep your lone pullet company.

Yes I have 6 other hens and five more coming next week. I had the opportunity to get some free chicks and thought that might be fun, bad luck to end up with five out of six to be roosters though. They will go to freezer camp with our meat chickens when we butcher.

I've had incubator hatches that were 80% cockerels, and had a broody hatch 100% cockerels. It happens! Free chicken for the freezer isn't bad though.
