We picked up 6 hens and a rooster from a sanctuary/rescue yesterday, but aside from the rooster (whom I think could be a Brahma?) and one hen I'm pretty sure is a double laced Barnevelder, I am at a loss as to what breeds or crosses they might be! I am absolutely a newbie when it comes to chicken breeds, and I didn't even really know where to start! All 7 should be between about 6 months and 3 years of age, and I think Trui is our oldest chicken but am not sure.

Without further ado, here's our ladies and gent:

Jo, our double laced barnevelder (I hope I got at least her right!)

Toos, (s)he is probably the youngest, still sounds like a chick! Might be a barnevelder too? Maybe a cross with something else?

Trui, I think she's the eldest.

Babs.

Foppe the rooster

Their sizes vary so much! Foppe is a BIG rooster, but he seems to be a gentle giant so far. Thanks in advance for your help figuring out what breeds our chickens might be!

Hmm, honestly it seems like most could be mixes, Foppe is gorgeous, he could totally be a Brahma, I'm not too familiar with what colors Brahmas come in besides light and dark :)

Trui is shaped like a leghorn but colored Columbian which I'm not sure leghorns come in? (Combs is also small for a leghorn I think?)

Hennie looks like a cuckoo Wyandotte bantam cause of the rose comb But she's got a long tail, Babs looks like a black mottled bantam Wyandotte and her tails more the right size/shape, but I'm not sure if Wyandottes come in black mottled xD

Honestly, besides Jo I can't 100% identify any of these cuties besides Toos and Emmy who are mixes with something with a crest (possibly silkie for Toos?) But I do know you have a gorgeous and unique new little flock, and I hope someone else can identify breed or possible mixes :D

Wow, 2 replies already! Thanks so much!

Hennie looks like a Barred Rock, but I’m not quite sure what the others are
I looked up the breed, she does look a lot like them! The crest seems similar too.

I assume most are mixes of something or the other! It can be nice to have some mystery in life... Then again, I am also curious ;)

Mix with silkie seems to make sense for both Toos and Emmy! Emmy's feathers are really soft.

Colombia leghorns do exist as a colour, at least here in the Netherlands, but I do assume Trui to be a mix if there's leghorn in her, or maybe colombia and white mix?

Foppee looks like my friend’s Americauna rooster.

Oh my, he's gorgeous! Foppe does have feathered feet... Do Americaunas always have "bare" feet?

Americanas are another name for Easter Egger's, which are mixes designed to lay colored eggs :) generally they're bare footed but being mixes Yknow things can happen! He could be an EE cross but it could be hard to tell ^^"

Hennie doesn't have the right comb to be a Plymouth Rock but possibly a Dominique? I'm not sure if those come in bantam though, Toos doesn't have feathered legs like I've seen most silkie mixes have but who knows, things happen! They've got the crest for it! :D

Mystery chickens! I wasn't even aware americaunas existed over here, but at least the bantams do! So it doesn't seem too farfetched that he could be a regular sized americauna? He's big, I think his head comes up to my knee and he weighs about 4-5 kilograms if I had to guess (which is why I thought brahma, I remember those as being some of the heaviest breeds)

You have some rare breeds for a rescue! Jo is a Barnevelder. Toos and Emmy look like crossbreeds and Toos looks like a cockerel. Trui may be a hybrid or a Delaware. Hennie looks like a bantam Dominique. Babs looks like a Mottled Wyandotte Bantam. Foppe is Gold Partridge Brahma. Are you located outside the US by any chance?
I'm located in the Netherlands!
Barnevelders are the most common/popular breed here, I think! We only live about 30 minutes away from the town they're named after :)

So Toos may be a cockerel? Interesting to know :)
I did take a close up pic of their feet, as I noticed there's a tiny start of a spur on them.

The reason I asked was that Mottled Wyandottes Bantams and Gold Partridge Brahmas are available in other countries but uncommon in the US! The barred one may actually be a Barred Wyandotte Bantam if they're more common in your area! Spur buds are present on both sexes, but the coloring is leading me to think he's a cockerel

@LoreWalker you have a great flock with mixes. These are no rescue chickens from farmers. But they come from a hobby farmer with a mix of breeds.

Some ideas of the breeds I have been reading here are quit unusual for The Netherlands. We don't have Delawares around here as far as I know and Americauna’s and Easter eggers are quit rare.

Mixes with Wyandottes, Silkies, Barnevelders, Brahma, Brabanter, Barred rock and other breeds that are common in the Netherlands are more likely.

Maybe you can ask the previous owner for information? I also sent you a pm with a few tips (links) for you're search, you possibly can use in the Netherlands.
