6 week Barred Rock-Gender?

He certainly is dark, that's odd. Maybe some of the genetics experts can explain. I don't know who to tag, though.

I don't think your rooster is a barred rock. He looks to have a rose comb Plymouth rocks should only ever have a single comb and since single comb is recessive, any "barred rock" with a different kind of comb are likely to have a non-rock parent. He also looks to be single barred, which is why he is so dark.

Were these the only two chicks to hatch? If no, were there any non-barred clutchmates?
