I have a beautiful 6 week old Easter Egger hen named Tiny. This morning she was perfectly healthy and active. About an hour ago, she started exhibiting some odd behavior: while the rest of the flock played around and ran, Tiny was standing upright and had her eyes closed. She was falling asleep while standing up, to the point where if I snapped my fingers next to her head, she did not wake up nor respond. She would only respond if I touched her on her back. She would sleep for maybe 20-30 seconds at a time, force herself awake, and then shut her eyes again. She has done this periodically for the past hour.
She is also a little more silent than usual. She is notorious for peeping very loUdly whenever the rest of the rest of the flock is out of sight. She is also shaking her neck and headba lot like she has a tic or something. She seems to be eating and drinking alright. Her poop is a little concerning. Its a little runny and white and a little bubbly. Please if anyone has any information jt would be extremely appreciated we love her a lot and want to do what we can.

We separated her from the rest of the flck in a cage with a fabric thrown on top. She now has enough energy to start crying for the others and is peeping very distressed. We gave her her food and water in there. So heartbreaking to listen to

If she were mine, I would treat with Corid.
You can find this in the cattle section of Tractor Supply.
Liquid Corid dose is 2 tsp per gallon of water or Powdered Corid is 1 1/2 tsp per gallon of water. Give as the only source of drinking water for 5-7 days.
If you put her back with the others, they can drink the medicated water too, it won't hurt them.

Thank you so much for the reply! Corid is typically used to treat Cocci, right? I'll definitely look into it. Will it hurt in any way though, if she doesn't have Cocci? I don't want to risk accidentally hurting her more if the treatment isn't meant for what she has. If it can help and does no potential harm, I'll definitely try

It will not hurt at all. As a matter of fact, you should treat the whole flock. Coccidiosis is very contagious. I have treated my flock on pure suspicion alone and they are fine. It can’t hurt them at all.

I just did a little more digging. She's a 6 week old and we just recently started putting them on dirt. Could that be why she's acting that way? All the others ones seem lively and healthy, though. As for Corid, I'm looking into it however it is hard to find. My nearest TS is an hour drive away and its hard to find it in a near pet supply store. Tiny is still alone in her cage(we brought her inside the house for the moment) . Amazon has 2 day shipping, but I'm worried thats too long.

I don’t think waiting 2 days is too long as long as you’re keeping her fed and hydrated. And the dirt is more than likely exactly where it was picked up - some chickens are just more symptomatic than others (assuming this is what it is). Monitor their poop for blood - however, coccidiosis doesn’t always produce bloody stools but it is a good indicator.

A little while ago she was extremely concerning and did nkthing but lie down and sleep. We put some herbs in her cage and I hand fed her some hard boiled egg yolk. I was extremely worried as she was sleeping all the time and was not eating, but now she seems like she's doing better. She ate a bit of her regular feed and pooped again: its no longer white and runny, but looks normal. We ordered the corid earlier so hopefully it will come tomorrow or the day after. Pray that she survives the night and thank you thank you thank you for all your advice!!

You are welcome, I don’t pray; but I will put good vibes out into the universe for you and your little chook. You’re a good mom, I’m sure she’ll get better.
