I hatched this chicken 6 weeks ago from an incubator. Today I got 4 turkey pults I was hoping my female turkey would raise. She however didn’t care for them at all and this chicken did. Now she is teaching them to eat and letting them cuddled under her wings. Could she have just really good instincts or is this something unique to her?

I tried to separate her from the pults but she called for them and wouldn’t stop so I put her in the brooder with them. I won’t separate them since when the pults are large enough they will free range with her and the rest of our flock.
If anything, it’s just really adorable but I’m wondering if anyone else has heard of this!

Was she raised alone?

Probably enjoying the cuties to hang out with! I wouldn't expect any broody behavior that young.
She was raised with 3 other chickens and has been out with the flock for about 2 weeks! So plenty of buddies! I guess she just likes that they are smaller than her!
